I haven’t done much night flying with my Aspen but it auto dims to a satisfactory level.
Surprising number of pilots here can’t interpret analogue or digital altimeters!
I have flown Aspen extensively night and day and I have to say that its brightness has never been an issue that has impinged on my consciousness, so I guess they must have got it absolutely right!

The dimming gradient can be adjusted in install mode.

BTW to get the multiplexed displays to come out you need a shutter speed of 1/60 or slower.

You got all the tools, but don’t take offense when I say that it’s a bit of a jumble. You certainly prove that it is possible to do away with the versus in Glass v. Conventional, but rather make it Glass & Conventional.
Have you got any integration setup? I notice you get traffic on your GNS430. I guess all the screens are just a tad too small to provide a level of integration without clutter.
