From Portuguese media, GA aircraft from LPCS to LERS crashed 70 km from destination. 3 pax no survivors.
Just looked into Ventusky and 100% cloud cover in the area plus rain.
METAR for Reus (LERS)
17:00 Z (28 min ago)
WIND 140° @ 6 kt
TEMP 18° / 17°, 94 %

Low pressure and a cold fron5 also on the way.
Without jumping into much conclusions seems to be VMC into IMC. Sad day to GA.
Additional info Mooney m20 D reg.
Well, 70kms out coming from LPCS they were most likely overhead the Priorat, which is a hilly wine-growing area to the west of Reus. If they had a tech issue, nowhere really to set down, no matter the wx. Sad, RIP.

Yes, sorry for the mistake. There are a few photos on the online paper (which you never know if we’re taken at the scene) and the sky was overcast.
Update. According to Portuguese CAA and quoting the paper, all occupants are German citizens.
Do you have the registration ? Or maybe a link to the article ? Flying a Mooney myself I’d like to follow this up.
Not yet. Will look Monday for CAA initial report.
D-ETFT, a Mooney M20K.
Weather was IMC in the area, flight was on a VFR fpl. The pilot contacted ATC and told them they were having problems, and were unable to reach LERS. Finally he reported loss of engine, according to local ATC.
Sad news
What a tragedy. Such a capable aircraft.

Typical VFR into bad weather. Looking for a way through the mountains. Then loss of engine due to possible fuel exhaustion?
