1900 UTC tonight

Not heard from Garmin yet re the suggested prize (Garmin Pilot) for the quiz.

We are still running the Zoom “meet-up”, Tuesdays, 1900 UTC.

Joining details in first post in this thread.

No news from Garmin on the suggested quiz prize of a Garmin Pilot subscription. They had to run it all the way to their top management, located on Mars, and it seems to have got stuck there. Well, the comms takes a long time, as NASA know only too well

Foreflight, in comparison, gave a Yes immediately (a quiz few months ago).

We do have enough questions for a new quiz but I was hoping for some prizes.

As did EasyVFR, and yourself I should add!

I’m sure Garmin just have different systems and it takes longer.

We could always do it without a prize, just for fun, if there is an interest in that.

Following a lot of participant input I’ve decided to change the format of these meet-ups, to having specific discussion topics.

I have a few lists from people, and any additional input on this is welcome.

Topics suggested so far include

  • Airspaces and how to solve complexity issues in VFR flying
  • Getting local support for EuroGA initiatives; networking with aero clubs
  • Common GA incidents and accidents; methods for precluding and avoiding
  • IMC and nigh flights in SEP/MEP/SET; risk level comparison
  • Tablet in-flight applications
  • A one minute tip on weather for flying. We all have tiny nuggets of advice or lessons that we’ve learnt. This is not a one-person weather briefing presentation. One minute per person.
  • Maybe a 5 minute introduction on where we should fly to in your country? If you’re from France, well, if we go to France, where should we fly when there?
  • Maybe a 2-3 minute talk about your favourite place to fly to. Most of us have places we constantly go back to. Some go to Le Touquet all the time. Why should someone go there? German pilots will have their own places (I think the Fresian Islands and Schewish Hall are popular). The French will have their places. We could learn from each other about favourite places.

Every Tuesday night 1900 UTC
