Many years ago in Norfolk we were looking for a drinking opportunity between 1600 when the market pubs shut and 1800 when the pubs re-opened. We found a sailing club bar by the river and named it the “Ouse Booze” it filled a gap. Looks like it struck a chord on the Little Ouse

The “Jan Olieslagers”, of course. Regulars would nickname it “den duvel” (“the devil”) because dear old Jan was most famed as “the Antwerp Daredevil” but also because “Duvel” is a famous beer specialty round here.
PS check wikipedia or so for Jan Olieslagers and for Duvel and for so many more colourful people and drinks in this wonderful country!
… but many other suggestions made me chuckle – perhaps we spend, or would like to spend, more time at the bar than at the stick?
At a good bar , that is, and good bars are getting rare. More’s the pity.
