Many years ago in Norfolk we were looking for a drinking opportunity between 1600 when the market pubs shut and 1800 when the pubs re-opened. We found a sailing club bar by the river and named it the “Ouse Booze” it filled a gap. Looks like it struck a chord on the Little Ouse

Tie Down, and there’s a sign on the restroom door: “hold short” :-)

The “Jan Olieslagers”, of course. Regulars would nickname it “den duvel” (“the devil”) because dear old Jan was most famed as “the Antwerp Daredevil” but also because “Duvel” is a famous beer specialty round here.

PS check wikipedia or so for Jan Olieslagers and for Duvel and for so many more colourful people and drinks in this wonderful country!

… but many other suggestions made me chuckle – perhaps we spend, or would like to spend, more time at the bar than at the stick?
At a good bar , that is, and good bars are getting rare. More’s the pity.
