Introductions and occupations?

We're in the market for a decent Stampe SV4 ... so if you know one for sale in loving hands

Have you contacted the Stampe Museum at EBAW? They are at the heart of the SV4 universum. They might offer further suggestions, too. If it doesn't work, feel free to ask for my humble intervention, I know some of the people over there. BTW the museum is well worth a visit, perhaps you should plan a trip there anyway?

Don’t tell anyone, but I too have a background in IT, and a degree in such things from the old days when PDP-11s were the world’s best-selling computers.>

Ah, the PDP-11. RSX-11M or RT-11? Pre-VAX - takes me back!

I'm kind of like Genghis, only older. Aeronautical engineer, captured by academia. Escape tunnel keeps collapsing. But when I do get out I work part-time as an FI. I think I've got a Chipmunk share somewhere, too...

Wanted to be a flight engineer as a kid but fell into a job as an apprentice mechanic with Mercedes Benz. Hated it from day one but quickly realised that this was because I'm unemployable! I saw out the apprenticeship and then quit to start my own independent Mercedes specialist garage which is now reasonably successful and I enjoy a good reputation amongst the Mercedes enthusiasts world, especially for the older classis Mercs. If you meet me, don't ask me to talk about cars though, let's talk aeroplanes or women!

And another IT man. IT consultant/trainer/service manager that is. Mainly on the organisational part of the IT business, but now shifting a bit to technology (MS SharePoint) as well. To keep working life interesting for me.

No PPL yet, but will in the next few weeks. Pre-exam test was OK, so proceeding to the final exam. Can't wait to fly on my own and go places. Flying a Diamond Katana (DA20) at EHLE.

Married with a lovely & good looking wife and having 4 children.

I don't think I ever replied to this. I run an investment company which focusses on small to medium, size companies in Western Europe often in odd places such as rural Bavaria. Hence the great advantage of being able to fly around.

But I also started out writing code on VAX computers. And downloaded Slackware Linux pre version 1.0 onto floppy discs from the mainframe....

Currently working with marketing, inside sales and corporate piloting (Citation) with the same company. I'm the three-in-one Kinder Egg. Before that Pilot as well as Flight Ops and Crew Training manager with a cargo operator flying Caravans. Gave it up after 4 years. Also part time instructor and examiner, Singles, Twins, IFR, Caravan, ATPL ground school etc etc.

6 kids = no private fun flying, but working on a solution to that.

Just browsed through the thread again, unfortunately 3/4 of the contributors have disappeared. Wouldn’t have thought it were that many.
