A shipyard fireman was killed when disposing of out-of-date flares by firing them off. One exploded sideways into his chest.
I’m wary of old flares, especially in an aircraft.
PS if carried, it is essential that pax know the difference between flares and clingfilm rolls.

Personally I’d not carry them in an aircraft.
They are only just out of date, so are probably a similar risk to when in date.
However if you have a marina near you, someone may wish to have them as an addition to what they carry, because they should be carrying, or because they are less out of date than the ones they are carrying.

If anyone wants these flares, let me know today because tomorrow I will dispose of them

Video of a Fascination ditching near Belle Ile in France:

I did not know that a Fascination floats as well as a seaplane, and I don’t understand why. Water not or only very slowly getting into fuel tanks somehow?

A question for the engineers out there. Would it have been better to tow the aircraft ashore from the rear? Would it have saved ant damage?
