Why is helicopter retrieval rarely done?

Probably not quite the same, but I am told that heli-aeromedical retrievals in capital areas in Australia cost a whopping $ 30,000 per event.

A King Air retrieval (Royal Flying Doctors) is around $ 6,000.

Bottom line: Helicopters are very expensive.
