There is an IFR or IMC rating, but there has been not much talk about that either. I don’t know what it consists of. Maybe that is “cloud” flying? Flying close to clouds, but not actually into them.
“Cloud flying” is flying in clouds. I can imagine that is less popular in Norway with its large amount of mountaneous terrain.
For local flying, I`ll climb to the base of the CU and then fly to the next point of interest. The CU will actually have a concave base so we can be surrounded by the cloud, but have a clear view to the ground below.
I haven`t taken the cloud climb rating (I haven`t flown in nearly 2 years due to the arrival of my son) but I wouldn`t hesitate to do so. I would find this a useful skill to have in case of wave flying.
