Does anybody have real life experience with using airports that require PPR, slots or has mandatory handling as IFR alternates? If you actually have to divert due to weather or some other reason does this create problems for you on ground (or even before landing)?
Is it best to simply stay away from using such airports as alternates? Unfortunately it seems more and more airports have some sort of requirement, and it doesn’t really make sense to acquire PPR, slots or to contact a handling agent as most times you never land there regardless.

In short, landing is always ok, especially if you declare a Mayday. It is getting back out of there (if you didn’t comply with the customs/immigration PNR/PPR) that can be a problem – if the police are in a bad mood. The airport’s own PNR/PPR is unlikely to be a problem.
