Jeppesen Jeppview and JDM on Mac. Is it possible?

10 Posts

I use the Jepp services – Jeppview for printing charts and JDM to download Nav etc data to my Garmin navigators etc. For years I have kept an ancient Windows machine for this sole purpose, but it is a pain in the arse. For example every time I want to do this, firstly my PC wants to spend several hours trying to update windows etc.

Anyway, I would early love to be able to use my trusty Macbook Pro to run these two Jeppesen services. Could anyone please help me with a couple a questions:

  • Has Jeppesen at last developed versions which run on Macs (I dont think so, but not sure)
  • I think I was once told there is a way to install a Windows version on Macbooks (Paralells??). Does this solve the issue and allow me to use the Jepp services
  • If that is the case, how hard is it to install Parallels? and will it mess up my Mac and make it more difficult to use for my normal uses.

there is no jeppview for mac os x so your only option is parallrls, it is not difficult to install and it should not affect your mac os in any negative way

Hi,

JDM works OK on Mac.
For chart viewing I use the e-Link portal.

But do I have to install Windows Parralels first?

I used to ru JDM on the Mac with no problem. (Now I use the Garmin equivalent).

JDM for Mac is a native app so it doesn’t require any other instalations. I’ve been using it for over a year and never had a problem.

No, there is a native Mac application.

How do you get access to that? Is it included in a PilotPak with charts?
