Post flight TKS clean-up

What do full-TKS aircraft owners do?

I keep a watering can hidden away and fill it up with hot water and wash the plane down with it. That gets the fluid off ok.

For some reason there is no fluid on the underside of the wings. But the stuff on top never disappears and remains sticky after a flight of any length.

One could just leave it on of course but then you get the sticky stuff on your hands and clothes when rubbing past the leading edges.

Have you tried washing it by flying in rain before landing :)

I would assume the reason being the outlets and the fluid is far enough displaced from the stagnation point that no substantial fluid moves across that point and under the wing. The stall warning relies on this principle.

it’s an interesting question. Need some bits of string , tape and a camera.

Is it a good idea to wash a plane with lots of water, compared to wiping the stuff off?

Some water is bound to get inside the ailerons etc. This happens during rain too, which is why one has drain holes, but it perhaps doesn’t help.

I always wipe off the stuff – water doesn’t help much.
