As mentioned, the format is lat/long with a name. If a sd user waypoint is included in the file, it is not given a name and the gtn flags up a problem, and you have to create the user waypoint and then put it in the plan, if I remember correctly.
I used airways waypoints almost exclusively and they all worked fine.(vrps are also in the database, last 2 letters of airfield identifier, followed by first 3 letters of vrp)
Of course, the gtn airways entry mode makes inputting routes manually pretty quick…..for airways flights.
Does that Import procedure also work with the G1000?
SD will export in gtn or gns format(and a few others), so I guess it may well do.
Answer would be in g1000 manual under file import(file types) I would think.
