Fuel density

Does the fuel density affect the performance of the “average” GA airplane?

I opine that if you can fly a GA airplane with the precision such that the density variation of the fuel creates a detectable change in performance, you are a remarkable precise pilot! I have, on occasion been asked to present the fuel density for W&B purposes, for airplanes I have flight tested for certification. I did this, and also pointed out that the certified scales used to weigh the airplane were each +- 3 pounds precision. The difference in weight of the airplane resulting from a difference fuel density was never as much weight variation as the possible W&B variation from “true” because of the weigh scale resolution.
