A friend of mine asked me whether it’s possible to convert .GPX route created with Google Earth Pro to .FPL which can be uploaded to Garmin GNS530. Any idea?
I don’t think this is really practical because a GPX file is a list of waypoints, and you may have a few thousand of them along say a 100nm flight.
So one might be able to load this into a GNS etc box but it would need the creation of a huge number of user waypoints, which might overflow the memory.
Whereas when we fly we have just a few waypoints and fly straight tracks between them.
A route created in Google Earth probably won’t have very many points. No reason for it to have any more points than any other route.
I think you might be thinking about a breadcrumb which can have many more. (1 per second in EasyVFR).
