i am looking for a back up radio simple and at low cost does anyone has a opinion about the Yaesu FTA-250L or even practical experiance
i think they sell for arround 199 euros incl headset adaptor
so it would fit my objective as back up and possible on ground useage
I bought one this week while in NYC but haven’t done much testing yet. It’s small and not too heavy, construction seems OK. I’m only planning to use it for ATIS / startup clearances so not planning any power user usage.
I’m able to understand the hudson corridor (office on the river) traffic well (when in reasonable line of sight)
No NAV frequencies on this model so if the ATIS is on a VOR frequency you won’t be able to receive it
