Planesurance App - Fellow GA pilot tries to fix broken insurance process

I met a fellow pilot during Aero who created https://planesurance.app to fix the broken “cartel like” insurance process. For example, if a single inquiry for a quote is present in the market other providers deny any further offers.
He flies a nice plane too and is a great guy!
I think his app is a great idea. What he needs is pilots from all over to join in and also help him connect to insurance providers.
You can download the app for iOS https://apps.apple.com/ro/app/planesurance/id6447489088 and Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.softescu.planeinsure

heavy sigh

Why does everything have to be an app? I’m not happy with installing ANYTHING on my phone, unless I REALLY need it.
Why can’t it be just a website?
What happens if I want to use from my CentOS machine? Or Debian on Raspberry Pi?

Good point. Just message him on his website.

Indeed. Installing a phone app for everything, particularly in support of purchases you make only once a year makes no sense.

It is true this happens but how does an “app” avoid this? The only way I know (I learnt this in 2002) is to send an enquiry to multiple insurers with different tail numbers

Why does everything have to be an app?

Yes this is dumb. It should be a website. An app is just another thing which needs to be written by a real app specialist and it is a constant money drain. It’s a big fashion (for the past few years) to have an app for everything.

See website:
Planesurance allows you to enter your aircraft details, your pilot information (even for those you share the aircraft with), and then effortlessly request & buy your aircraft insurance. Planesurance helps you get in touch with insurers all across Europe. You can discuss your insurance needs through the platform.

I’d guess it removes the tailnumber for the inquiries.
The guy behind the app is a genuinely nice GA pilot (flies a nice Marchetti too) trying to improve GA. Hence he has my support.

I hope he has a lot of success – this is an area ripe for innovation. One thing that I find strange is that I have to re-apply for insurance every year with my supplier. Is this the same for all insurers? Not needed for any of the other insurance I have (home/car/life/…)

I haven’t had that experience. I contacted several different insurance brokers , however if I remember correctly each one for another insurance company. And I got several very different quotes. What is the problem that is referred here?

Germany

I did the same and got the typical „we are not providing a quote because this inquiry is already in the market“.

How do you know which broker represents which insurance and which insurance uses which re-insurer?
