Testing "exotic" characters

Is it just me or did anyone else open this thread expecting a very different subject?

Well, I had doubted about using the word “characters” but it really was the best title I could come up with. I never imagined I would cause such confusion, though. Gave me a good laugh to start the day!

And yes, UTF-8 would be the natural thing to use, for me too, but that is perhaps different in different environments.

Why not use UTF-8 for all strings / database tables?

In theory at least, we do.

If we’re given specific cases of specific characters we can look into them. Please provide the UTF8 code from a page like this:

http://www.utf8-chartable.de/unicode-utf8-table.pl

and state which code it is you’re using.

Thanks.

From the second page of that table, these are the two that I came upon – by accident, as I later found out:
(the “characters” had to be removed of course)

I do not think David’s latest “message” was in Czech – are you SO far out?
