VFR trip report - Toulouse Lasbordes

Hi,

Here’s a report of a VFR flight I did in March this year from Berre-La-Fare (LFNR) to Toulouse Lasbordes (LFCL).
We left early on saturday morning for a 160 Nm run. The weather forecast was excellent both at departure and destination, with a bit of headwind on the way to Toulouse.

Above la Camargue, bay of Montpellier:

We flew on top at FL065 between Montpellier and Castres. The CTR of Toulouse Lasbordes requires that westbound flights arrive through ‘AE’, which is a small lake out of nowhere. The Garmin430 was useful for us non locals.

Somewhere near Castres, Pyrenees in the background:

Toulouse Lasbordes is dedicated to leisure and general aviation but was very busy that morning. The circuit is unconventional since various residential / industrial areas must be avoided. The airfield is next to the air & space transportation museum, which features a static display of the Ariane rocket:

Short final RWY 34. I did a touch and go first, and then complete landing. Due to headwind, it took us 2h05 to get there.

Plenty of room at the parking lot. The ATC was here, but there was a sign on the tower saying that landing fees invoice would be sent directly to the owner. At this point, I still do not know how much it was.

Ariane:

1950s airfield sign:

Our TB10 could meet her sisteship: Tobago GT, same delivery, SN slightly lower than ours. To my knowledge, these two are the only Tobago GTs still flying under french registration (Does anyone here know any other?).The guys greeted us and offered coffee.

The local club has a bunch of DR400, as well as two TB20s, including one GT. TBs rule! (One should always flatter the landlord )

The restaurant was closed for the winter.

The return flight was very straightforward. The tailwind pushed us up to 140kts in cruise at FL085.

In the end, a nice and uneventful non-burger run!

Thanks. Nice photos!

Thanks for this. Nice pictures and nice to read about other pilots adventures. Do you have a website address for the Club that has the TB20’s? Thanks.

No worries Jan. The TB20 GT belongs to Airbus employees’ aeroclub: http://acat-toulouse.org/
They also own the TB10 GT and a non-GT TB20.

Thanks for your comments guys.
