I recognise a lot here of what I see in “stunning” photos, but the trick is to retain some level of reality 
I do, as well as the other filters in that pack. As you say, especially with HDR, you never want to crank the adjustments to 11, unless it’s a very specific image style you’re after (exemple below, down with the NIK HDR and Silver plugins)
