Either the environment pressure is extremely high (unlikely, but you obviously can do the math) or one uses a Turbo

My understanding is that CHT is a close analogue to average ICP, while it is peak ICP that is critical. Reducing RPM while maintaining power should approximately maintain CHT and average ICP, while increasing peak ICP because the combustion reaches a more developed stage by the time the piston is at TDC.
In my post above I meant peak ICP but forgot to write “peak” every time.

What is also my understanding (I believe from APS) is that at low power settings there is not much you can do that will harm the engine, as long as it is running smoothly. I do not recall exactly how low is “low”, but 55% would definitively be included.

Unfortunately I cannot find a reference for either of this. My APS is years back and I should probably do it over again.
