This one is doing the social media right now
No idea of the origin or location or even age.
I posted it because it illustrates really well the principle that a target on a genuine collision course is a stationary point in your field of view.
It also shows how very little time you have to react even if you do spot the target.
Funny name that “near miss”. It was definitely a miss ;-)
Now that is a Brown Trouser Moment !!
ADS-B would have prevented that – it has for me, a couple of times already.
Transponder does the trick as well.

I agree. The cost of ADS-B is so trivial that I really don’t understand why so many fly without it.
I did have a near-ish miss like that last year under the London TMA. Unfortunately the other airplane was electronically invisible for which I probably ought to thank the UK regulator’s disincentive to transponder use in the vicinity of CAS – but that’s another topic…

Not really, unless you’re flying something expensive with TCAS.
ADS-B can be picked up by all typical iPad accessories nowadays.
I don’t buy it. Camera was ready and good side, no surprise…
That surprised me too and there seems to be little reaction from the crew. Perhaps it was only noticed when watching the playback later?
