It always amazes me how much diligence Greek airport operators invest in NOTAMing their highly sophisticated opening hours.

They probably invest even more time calculating their pensions but you are not privileged so see that.

Not complaining but opening at about 3 AM whats up with that?

I just returned from Ioannina LGIO. Although it was very easy to contact and arrange landing and parking via Skyserv, total bill was not much different than on Fraport airports: handling 50€, landing fee 13€, passengers fee (2 pax) 24€, customs fee 40€ (???) and with few other small items it was 140€. Very similar to LGBL which also charged me for customs and PPR (50€) but didn’t charge for passenges so total bill was 150€. As comparison, Sarajevo LQSA charged me 78€ for same service (landing, 2 pax, customs, few days of parking) – not mentioning the fact that Jet A1 at LQSA is 0,42€ while in Greece is approximately 4 times more expensive.

So my final conclusion on Greece (Fraport or no Fraport): airports in Greece are more expensive than the ones in the rest of the Europe without any advantage in service. You can fly to Malta or Prague for 150€, Milano Linate or Malpensa for 200€ (not to mention Bergamo for 80€) or to Vienna for 250€ and receive much better service. I could list dozens of Europian international airports (Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Sweden, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czekia, Serbia etc.) under 100€ (for landing, handling and few days of parking) where I receive much better service than on Greek airports which are 50%-150% more expensive.

As and example, I was quoted 240€ for landing and 7-days parking at Preveza LGPZ if parked on civil apron or 320€ if parked on military apron. I agreed with any option although handler (Goldair) warned me that parking on civil apron is highly unlikely due to lack of space. A day prior to my flight I was informed that I can land only after 15:00 UTC (my request was 10:15 UTC) and I had to cancel whole arrangement. Instead of that I landed to Ioannina LGIO, took rental car (220€) and drove to Preveza (2 hours of driving each direction). Guess what – when passing airport (4 times) I looked at the apron and it was deserted every time which is not surprising having in mind number of daily operations at LGPZ.

I highly appreciate what AOPA Greece does to improve current situation but obviously the problem is not only Fraport.

Jet A1 at LQSA is 0,42€

That is really low. Is that their cash price or using any fuel card?

obviously the problem is not only Fraport.

For sure, a lot of people in the airport services business saw Fraport ripping people off in a completely in-your-face manner so they saw an opportunity to rip off the same people in the hope that nobody will notice.

It’s a bit like if you work in a bank and find a customer who pays out a €1k mortgage every month, and there is a lot of money going through the account, there is a good chance that a second direct debit for the same amount, appearing on the 2nd page of the bank statement, will not be noticed for a while.

And bizjet customers mostly won’t care anyway. And the airlines do direct deals.

I have no skin in this game, but reading the various threads here it seems to me that all the local crooks are using Fraport as a convenient smokescreen for their own machinations. A bit like politics in the UK, where every (homegrown) madness was blamed on the EU…..

So there is a conspiracy to issue fraudulent invoices to GA airplanes? How big is the conspiracy, who is involved?

Any type of payment. I always pay with ordinary credit card.
