Suitable SEP IR tourer with FIKI and speed

Coming back to the original theme of the thread, a fully TKS-ed N-reg. TB20 with quite an attractive price was just added on Planecheck

LOAN Wiener Neustadt Ost, Austria

I hope I’ll never bite my tongue, but I am always gutted to see how many prop strikes there are out there. Plamecheck is full of it. I am almost sure it comes from people landing SEPs not at the correct attitude , i.e. Way above stall speed..

Well, yes, I keep saying the same, and get ridiculed for it But half the problem is from poorly maintained airfields. And with grass you have extra problems because if it is anything above really short you can’t see the surface. I had a prop strike with a new TB20, in a pothole.

I saw that TB20. It is well equipped but is one of the earliest ones so unless it has been really well looked after (very unlikely in a company environment IME because lubrication is the key here but no company wants to do it because it is time consuming) it will need loads of airframe parts, and I think there may be issues with those from Socata in the future. Without the equipment this is basically a €40k plane. It could be great but at €89k it would need a very competent prebuy check.

My guess it that 80% of prop strikes happen on landing at paved airports, and maybe 20% are potholes /uneven grass runways. Just a guess though.

If that TB20 is on the N-reg and based at EDRT, then it is very likely not maintained by a “shop” but by a very well-reputed A&P/IA in the area. Just another guess though.

@Walter

just seen this one.

That is a seriously nice Mooney Bravo just in your (updated) price range. G500, GNS530W, GNS430W combo, KFC150 AP, 400 hrs since overhaul of the engine, 40 hrs since new prop and fully FIKI certified. Were I shopping within your budget, I’d give this one a serious look.

you can read the evaluation of the M20M here

Short of an Acclaim, the TLS Bravo is probably the best of the M20’s ever made. She will deliver around 210-215 kts high up and around 190 kts at FL100. More conservatively flown, she will go around 1000 NM or more on 14 GPH with still around 200 kts up high and maybe 180 kts lower down.

Thx a lot

I agree with this one ….
I looked at it many times already. My personal account still doesn’t want we to cheat with financing the gap and I would need some months to catch up with my wallet… I guess in 20-24minths I will be there. But tell miss Ellen and mr EUROBANK that they should keep on doing what they are doing or if they want to stop they should tell me a little bit in advance so I can repositioning my assests :-)))
Let’s see. But you are right. This is exactly the plane

Walter,

This one here has got a hot prop, is otherwise not de-iced. Other than that, it is a really nice 231, despite the GB engine. Recently overhauled, new hot prop, decent avionics, this one can well be within budget and a ready to fly traveller.

In theory, any non-de iced Mooney can be upgraded by these guys:

Whether the expense is worth it is another question. Obviously quite some owners thought it was. It might be a variant along the lines of fly now, upgrade later when budget allows.

There are two even cheaper 231s on Planecheck in Norway and Sweden. I like both of them as airplanes which are cheap enough that you can make it your own in terms of avionic and engine options yet they are solid enough as a base.

In flight at 19’000 ft with both fuel gauges showing empty. Hope they got fixed during the annual…

LOL, youch, yes I missed that one

No G500 but still very well equipped, and significantly cheaper:
