Maybe I got the products confused, but surely TAWS without an audio warning is useless.
It's like a car satnav box whose database has speed cameras but there is no audio warning. All UK satnavs I have seen are like that (completely useless; in fact most don't even have the cameras, but there are ways to upload them) but fortunately you can get the required function on most phone satnavs (e.g. Nokia Drive). Just make sure you don't get caught with this in France
Getting the audio warning was a feature of the Garmin 496, versus the 296 which had the same function but with the audio output disabled. 2x the price (at the time) to get the audio
