Absolutely agree – by the way, I got an FI rating in France as well, and I live there since 2008.
Back to IFR – and going off topic a bit – all this mental stuff is not a bad thing in the end (and can even be fun!), but – I believe – it has to be used with a grain of salt and requires practicing a lot before feeling comfortable. That’s the point: unfortunately, since the end of my IR training last year, I fly IFR once or twice a month only (and nothing at all since Covid began). So, trying to using all those methods when you are a bit rusty can actually increase the workload – but again, if I flew more often, it would run smooth, undoubtedly.
