I am looking for about 2m of a high quality version of this self adhesive tape
The above is thin stuff. There is a much better thicker stuff and while I did once find a supply, the minimum order was about £1000 for a roll.
For best results, it is applied with a rubber roller.
Ideally I need to rework the wing walk material but I never found the stuff which Socata used 2o+ years ago.
You can usually get rolls of aluminium sticky tape as you described at a place which sells roofing materials.
Maybe this one (aluminium and anti-slip): https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/safety-hazard-tapes/2622022?gb=s
or
very thick but seems to be in the 700$ range: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/dc/v100957718/
The RS one may well be similar to the Socata stuff but just 5cm wide. I could use it for repairs… I’ve ordered 1 roll. It’s reassuringly expensive
Thanks
Is not just 3M speed tape… our engineers used to have loads of the stuff
I did this job eventually with this black tape mentioned above
It will need a 2-pack UV-resistant lacquer to seal the edges though – just like Socata did in the pic above. I need to do that before the plane can be flown, or even moved outside the hangar.
