Contact – neoprene adhesive would be just fine for this application.

It does need a reasonable temperature range though.

Any suggested adhesives in aviation usage?

This one is used a lot in aviation for trim etc and doesn’t come undone with heat:

That’s super, thanks wigglyamp.

Not easy to buy though; e.g. LAS has an MOQ of 6 tins They call it 3MFB30B1LT. They probably buy it from the usual place

I would buy 1 tin – they cost c. 20 quid.

I got this from Aircraft Spruce USA when I asked them about a suitable glue:

So, still looking for someone who can get me just 1 tin of the above 3M stuff…

I have a 3M premium dealer nearby.

Will have to call them on Monday to find out whether they sell the adhesive also in single units or only in bulk.

Contact cement don’t generally glue lots of plastic/rubber, polyeten, polypropylen etc well at all. This is “vinyl” according to the link, so it must be some “rubberized” PVC, which is not exactly “high tech” isolation material in any sort of way, but probably very “gluable” with contact cement. I would just use some “industrial” type glue, Contact glue from Wurth for instance. Test a sample on a sheet of metal and see how it turns out.

Can you not use heat-resistant silicone?!

Silicone (as I know it) is good but

  • won’t dry in the absence of air so can’t be used for gluing large areas
  • isn’t a “contact” adhesive so can’t be used to attach something what moves about

I contact-glued baffling with heat-resistant silicone. Worked very well.

I assume the foam you use allows air to pass as well – you just need to hold it in place while the silicone cures.
