Does anybody know what the Allen screw marked in red is for?
The image isn’t from my aircraft, but I can’t find any description of what this screw does in any of the manuals. From the position I’m guessing it’s to do with the oil system:
Oil gallery plug?
I did wonder, but why would they use a screw rather than a plug, which is what they’ve used everywhere else?
Maybe a field repair where a suitably sized plug wasn’t available?
Overhauling the VW?
No, they all come that way. Just trying to get to know it.
