Your country’s top IFR GA airports

Denmark:

EKRK -Copenhagen Roskilde
Primarily a GA airport with ILSes and GPS approaches, 100L and JetA1, Flight schools, Aircraft maintenance, Cafeteria.

EKAH – Aarhus
Mixed GA and commercial. GA parking close to ARO. ILSes and GPS (LPV) approaches. Reasonnable fees.

Oxford is 0600 to 2230 every day with very reasonable fees.

Oxford itself is a great tourist destination, as are the Cotswolds. It is probably more of a summer thing, but if I were a mainland Europe-based GA pilot and wanted a week of tourism in the UK then Oxford would be where I’d head to. You can do 2-3 days there and then it’s nice and central for launching off on trips elsewhere around the country.

Where do you want to go? What sort of approach do you want? Many airfields have had their NDB IAPs taken out and replaced by RNP IAPs so are more difficult to find in some areas. Most airfields with an IAP are open to all with no PPR but there are some where youbwould need to call beforehand so that they can get an English speaking ATS if you don’t speak French LFRI for instance, which isngood for RNP approaches day or night.

Found this useful thread and revamping it!

Netherlands:

I think the best is EHGG Groningen.
ILS on one runway, RNP and VOR on all runways. Cheap fees (for NL), very professional ATC and no hassle at all on the ground.

On the ”cheap” fee side, De Kooy (EHKD) has ILS (one runway) and RNP (both runways), nice place, limited hassle on the ground but PPR to be requested 24 hours earlier.
Lelystad (EHLE) is very limited for IFR, as you need a PPR (requested 24 hours earlier) both for the time you arrive and when you depart in order to be able to use it IFR (they have to staff a controller for approach/departure control so you get a 30 mins time window). And on the weekend no PPR possible, VFR only. A pity because it’s a good GA airport.

Maastricht (EHBK), Rotterdam (EHRD) and Schiphol (EHAM) are much more expensive with mandatory handling. EHBK above 100 EUR, the two others well above 200 EUR.
