This will be great if something doesn’t spoil the plans

You mean such like mount Etna, which is spitting clouds at the very moment?

There are loads of people climbing up there, as can be seen in the screenshot above, taken from this webcam:

Mount Etna South

The following webcam shows a beautiful view on its top:

Mount Etna South-East

Would be an interesting destination for a small flight and/or big hiking trip…

Yes, something like that or 4th wave or Godzilla terrorizing Palermo

For our summer vacation 2021, we had our eye on Sicily early in the year. It was expected that the strictest COVID-19 restrictions would be sufficiently lifted by early June, during the period when it would not yet be very warm in the deep south of Italy. We made a nice vacation of it, and in retrospect in time before the COVID-19 numbers rose again. I hope you have a nice fly-in.

@dppintr any tips on the airport, LICP, especially regarding fuel arrangements, and fuel price?

I’ve updated the Meetups page.

The local aeroclub at Bocca di Falco has a page in English with routes, a PPR form and a few tips. link
AVGAS prices during our holiday in June where we refueled;
Bocca di Falco: €3.00/litre
Reggio Calabria: €2.80/litre
Pescara: €2.50/litre

Netherlands

Interesting that you managed to clear customs out if Italy at Bresso. The AIP says „NIL“ on customs and immigration, but the aeroclub‘s website says that customs is „by request“. Did you have to do any particular paperwork? Any additional fee? Did any customs personell show up at the airport before your departure?

We requested customs for the outbound flight to Locarno using the mandatory PNR form for Bresso, and we checked at the reporting office upon our arrival at Bresso if they had processed the request. There were no extra cost involved. Customs may or may not come. Not with us.

Good to know, thanks. Useful info also for @Frans, I guess.
