Aero Friedrichshafen 2015 15-18 April

I assure you guys (and gurls) that the bogs at the exhibition are all top class

Is that sufficient reassurance?

You will have far more fun booking the arrival slots, using the brilliantly conceived (NOT) system they are now using.

Ill pass it along.

I’ve just got this from the organisers:

Slots can be booked starting on March 28, 2015 over the following webpage: www.fly-away.de
More information on the booking procedure you can get on:
http://www.aero-expo.com/aero-en/travel-accommodation/travel-by-plane.php

BTW British Airways are doing £58 tickets direct back to Gatwick for Sunday 19th April.

God no wonder GA is stressed in Europe! It cost me as much to taxi to the active!

Myself and several others are staying very close to the lake in Hagnau, €45/night, and the bus transport to the show is only a few €. That’s the tradeoff, I guess.

I’ll be staying in Hagnau, too, in Haus Fröbel, about 200 m from Peter’s hotel.

I don’t think you will ever get a definite number – until the actual day. But we shoul get an indication of how many intend to make the Saturday evening.

I case I’ve not been clear about this, I’ll join the dinner Peter is organising. Most likely a fellow club member will join, too.

There are going to be two “pilot dinners” I am aware of.

One of them has been held for a number of years by a bunch of TB pilots and some Greek pilots. That was always organised by Manfred. That one was always at a restaurant called Lukulum. I will probably be there.

The other will be the EuroGA dinner, and the job of booking it is with Goaround who will be staying at the same hotel as me. I plan to be there too, of course. I have suggested to Goaround that he books a table for 10 people, which ought to be OK given that we have no idea how many might turn up and even if 20 say they will turn up, and a table for 20 is booked, one might get 10 and then the restaurant will be cheesed off. I think it should be not necessarily at the Lukulum (which is OK but somewhat “greasy”), and avoiding “specialised tastes” like e.g. Indian which some people cannot eat, but most people can eat German (well, once or twice ) or Italian (pasta, pizza, etc). I know nothing about the Friedrichshafen eating scene so won’t be organising anything myself. Suggestions?

Ideally the two should be on different evenings but that’s from my point of view mainly. However the “TB” one was usually on a Thursday or Friday and I think most EuroGA people will be around at the weekend (most people fly at weekends) which suggests a Saturday for the EuroGA one.

I don’t think we will be able to please everybody. However we can all meet up during the day at the exhibition; there are some “OK-ish” places there.

FWIW, there are restaurants by the lake, in Hagnau and other places. They tend to be a lot quieter too; the Lukulum is very noisy. It’s a very scenic area

If somebody else is staying at Hagnau we can share the taxi which will cut down the journey time and be quite cheap. It now looks like I will be there with one other person which depending on how it works out at the last minute will be “EuroGA David”, Justine (my GF) or my son, and Goaround will be there with one other person. So a shared taxi to/from Hagnau will need to be a 6-seater at least. I will fly in Thursday morning c. 1300Z and depart Sunday morning, wx permitting as usual.

I and my fellow club member are and I’m interested.

We’ll arrive late Thursday afternoon or early evening and leave Sunday morning.

I was just thinking that this year i should be able to go (but on a weekday).
so maybe Thursday or Friday for me… and just the day trip WX and slot permitting

I am not sure they care that much about the slots, because a few times I was well outside mine.

I think they run that system just to keep a lid on traffic. But these days the traffic is a fraction of what it was say 5 years ago.

With a 3hr flight from the UK I will aim for a 1200Z slot, so one arrives in time for lunch
