Ioannina LGIO Greece

Greece has a long history of charging N-regs a lot more, but it is just the landing fee which is 5x to 10x higher (say €10 instead of €2, IME, Kalymnos, IIRC)

Of course. An N-reg is much more expensive for ATC to guide to the airport and much more wear-and-tear on the runway than the same aircraft operating under an EU-reg. I think I might try to start a movement here to have gas stations charge more for fuel for Greece-registered autos than the rest. After all, a large part of the gas price is tax that goes to road infrastructure and Greek autos are much harder on the infrastructure than all the others.

Seriously, I’m hoping to make a trip to Greece next year, perhaps in June, and the information here and from our friends at aopa.gr certainly puts LGIO at the top of the list for entry and perhaps a short stay to get to know the area. Now they just need to find a way to organize permanent Avgas….. maybe contract with AirBP or Total for a self-service fuel station? A bit off-topic, but I don’t know why they aren’t everywhere. My last trips to France were all self-serve (both Total and AirBP) and refuelling was just soooooo convenient.

LGIO have avgas until end of October. I don’t know when in the “summer” they start but probably around May.

Greece is wrapped up in regulations. I’ve often asked that question.

The price for landing, 15 days parking etc was only Euro 173, with the AOPA Greece membership. I feel sure they must have made a mistake.

Now I understood your comment, you meant you expected heavier charges.
Correct me if I’m wrong.

In Ioannina you got the low prices offered only for Ioannina LGIO and (Nea Aghialos LGBL) by SKYSERV supporting the airport of entry status in these two airports.
It would have been even less if you weren’t N’reg.
Non EU register aircraft at public (CAA) airports have a fee of 6~7 Euro per day.
EU register have a fee of less than 2 Euro per day.

Its all documented in www.aopa.gr/Info paragraph 12b.
