Introductions and occupations?

Weekend Pilot.

During the week I work for a pharmaceutical company, currently Logistics (Transports) but have covered all aspects of the Supply Chain.

Happy only when flying
Sabaudia airstrip LISB, Italy

IT Specialist at IBM Netherlands. Currently working in the training department: Designing, developing and teaching AIX and Linux courses, plus curriculum management (planning, invoicing and whatnot).

In addition to that I spend a lot of time as volunteer for the "Stichting Hoogvliegers" (Airsmiles Foundation) in the Netherlands. This foundation offers air experience flights to sick and handicapped children - about 1000 kids annually.

Single, so enough money left over for flying.

IT entrepreneur as well. Own & manage a niche based software development house for the last 15 years. Hard work being a business owner, but this is exactly what I enjoy & always wanted to do, and I wouldn't change a thing. Also it pays for my flying.

Like a lot of people on this thread, flying is my 'Third place'. Something different and extraordinary. Using you best skills and judgement.

Lately I've been thinking about getting a CFI/CFII/ME-I & taking the challenge of teaching other people to fly.

Resident Supply Chain Manager - Basically buy stuff, for the Space industry, but embedded within a supplier out in Germany.

Prior to that Quality Manager and then Project Manager for a well know Air Traffic Services provider in the UK, based somewhere centrally on the south coast...and before that tried my hand at Air Traffic Control... but alas didn't make it.

On the side a somewhat failing entrepreneur... in that I have loads of ideas, but all my money goes into flying, so never have anything left to invest in the dream.

Want to get IR, so that wherever job takes me next I can fly IFR, like I used to on a IMC before leaving Blighty... and I too dream of a lovely pressurised PC12 or something so that I can fly myself to my Caribbean Island :D (the morning coffee will kick in soon)

Overall IT guy Educated in electric engineering, electronics, and automation switched to software development from voice processing to cryptography and evolved (?) to project management and running development teams, from small entrepreneur to board member in large IT company.

Started as glider pilot 30 years ago (this year in October), had to quit flying due to war in my region and came back 5 years ago trying to make it up for a pause I had. Holder of PPL(A) IR and co-owner (with 3 friends) of small PPL training facility with ambition to enhance it to ATO, extending operations to CPL and IR training during this year.

Edit: owner of Socata TB20 and co-owner of C172.

Am an Aussie but came to Aberdeen nearly 17 years ago...Learned to fly in Singapore 20 years ago (Malaysia for the XC before anyone asks!)...have PPLs from Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar, Australia, UAE and UK (but only keep the Aussie and UK current) plus FAA 61.75.....have obviously flown in all those countries plus Europe (and the Bahamas)....spent 2 fantastic years in Norway where the flying was spectacular (and cheap believe it nor not!)....boringly fanatical about flying (aren't we all??)....currently not an owner...looking very seriously at a Mooney M20 (J or K)

Anthony Quick

YPJT, United Arab Emirates

FI for 21 years - admittedly 14 of those years I didn't have a medical.

Filled those years in being an Optometrist and latterly Ophthalmologist.

A long-abandoned career in experimental physics. A not quite abandoned career in IT, now mostly for in-house needs. A very active career as a multilingual translator and interpreter. Aspiring to turn aviation from a hobby into a career. Lived in 6 countries, still haven't found my dream place.

LKBU (near Prague), Czech Republic

20+ years doing road safety - research, counseling, auditing, mostly as self-employed; recent years I mainly worked with the Danish Accident Investigation Board (Road Traffic only). Civil engineer with a ph.d. Glider's license 1979 (lapsed), Ultralight 1989, PPL 1992, CPL/FI 2001. Working life and travelling options restricted since 2007 when my youngest son at 4 years had a major brain surgery; he now has a good life but needs lots of time and care and some equipment. I part-own a Piper Dakota and a Grob 109B motorglider. Instructs about once a week at Denmark's largest flying club and Registered Facility; mainly for difference training's, Night Qualification, and TMG rating. Responsible for the club's training material and right now I brace for EASA-FCL which is to come into force in Denmark on this April 8th. IT-wise my ambitions are to reasonably master the G1000, my iPad and the GTX330 transponder :-)
