Of course the real situation is somewhat more complicated, but it’s funny none the less
The funny thing is, if you balloted the English population on Scottish independence we would PROB99 vote for them to leave.
YouGov would suggest otherwise. 46% want Scotland to remain; 13 want it to leave; the rest respect its autonomy.
I keep having the (ridiculous, I know) notion that the solution is for Scotland, Ireland and Ceredigion to merge with Ireland into a loose federation of Celtic nations that would inherit Ireland’s existing EU membership. There are many good reasons I never became a politician.

I’d vote for you
At the risk of making a serious debate more light-hearted…
I always thought the best thing would have been if Brexit had been implemented by England declaring independence from the UK, effective 31 December 2020. This would have, at the stroke of a pen, resulted in
Everyone would have been happy.
Why did nobody think of that??

You are a Genius Cobalt !
I’d vote for you
Thank you!
Most of Wales voted to leave the EU so I think we’d have to stay with England.

Because then England would have lost the Queen!
Well. (can’t remember the original thread, if any)
Norwegian (NAS) looks like they will survive after all. They will (amongst a few other things):
This also includes “hybrid loans” from the government (loans that can be transformed to shares as I understood? ) The government refused to help the last time around, until they came up with a viable plan and reduced their loans substantially. Seems viable to me.

Queen
The Queen is happily head of state of 15 Commonwealth Realms, so adding England as a Commonwealth Realm would not be much of a problem.
And when the SNP ultimately achieves its goal of turning Scotland into a Scottish Socialist Republic (short – SSR), only her title needs to be amended slightly, although she will probably need a visa to go to Balmoral.

Ok not a queue as such, but do the process like anyone else…
Absolutely! The time consuming part, however, is typically the negotiations (and adjustments of legislation in the candidate state) between screening and closure of the chapters. and this can can be comparatively short when the screening doesn’t show many findings in the case of Scotland.
Island is a good example for how fast this process even for a country has hasn’t been a former member EU (but a member of EEA) can be – until they have stopped the process from their side…
