The FAA are giving N-Reg GA owners $500 rebate for ADS-B Out equipage.
From a quite look, it doesn’t mention any geographic limitation on the rebate, but you’ll need to fly in particular FAA airspace after installation to qualify.
Might be of interest to some here, based in the US.
The aircraft eligible for rebates are defined as U.S.-registered, fixed-wing, single-engine piston aircraft.
Oh well.
There might be a possibility of getting some similar EU money for ADS-B and Mode S. It’s notoriously difficult to administrate because the Commission doesn’t like signing small cheques, and tends to cover only about 20-30%, but it’s better than nothing.
Hello,
reading the ADS-B FAA rebate program, there’s nothing about where the aircraft is based. But there is a gotcha: you need to do a flight test, and when you read the details, that needs to happen in a place where there is FAA ADS-B stations.
Has anyone managed to get the rebate with a flight in the EU?
Any input on this? It does sound interesting!
This is the FAA FAQ site for the rebate. https://www.faa.gov/nextgen/equipadsb/rebate/faq/
I’ve tried and finally got a (fairly curt) answer, to the effect that if you don’t fly in FAA airspace, you cannot get it.
