Wanted NARCO NA-841 ADF Aerial at sensible price.
Corrosion is the chief enemy of electronics…
If this was me and I wanted a cheap and dirty solution which looks like the existing one (bear in mind that Narco is about the worst quality stuff in GA) I would find something on US Ebay and put it in off the books. Serial number stickers have also been known to jump across quite a distance, if a hair dryer is available
If you want a gold plated certified avionics shop job, install a KR87 ADF. That is about the only GA ADF which works properly, and works for more than 5 minutes. It has a sealed (encapsulated) antenna. @Jesse here gets very good reports from EuroGA people who have gone there.
Thanks Peter – we’re going to make do with what we’ve got as aerial (on removal) was full of water and feel sure a replacement aerial will ‘fix’ things – it used to work in the near past.
We’ve located a Narco NA-841 aerial on US Ebay, but just looking for one near home.
We did the hair dryer bit, but fear our unit is past redemption.
I’ve found two sources in the U.S. who can supply this antenna in serviceable condition with proper paperwork for about US $1K plus freight. PM if you’d like more details.
Thanks wigglyamp – have sent you e-mail via this site.
wigglyamp – you interested in looking at our Century AP on N2136E Arrow IV ?
Could be a ‘drive’ problem form AI and / or DI.
We don’t want to throw good money after bad – it use to work B4 a AI swap.
Peter, reading yours again at no 02 think you meant the hair dryer is used to illicitly remove serial no. plate and transfer to another. Tut tut.
We used same to attempt a ‘dry out’.
