Price on the Market for a GIA63W is average 11000 to 15000 usd per GIA63W , i sold at 10000 Usd per unit if interested, only 4 in stock actually, some sells this week.

with adding Garmin GA35 Waas antenna in the same time.

The installation cost is the labour to reinstall software.

If you have skilled technician on G1000 at your local shop, we can deliver the Service bulletin Cessna or Diamond for install these GIA63W to replace the old GIA63.

What does that involve?

Don’t forget that often this involves a change of antennas as well and in some cases cabling too. Getting to those can get rather interesting in many airframes. Not sure about necessary changes in wiring other than that. When we upgraded the GNS430 to W we would have had to also do the datalink to the ADS-B Transponder. No idea whether anything is required here as well.

also upgrading to WAAS has some paperwork involved. I think 6 to 8 hours all in all is not a bad estimate considering that there are two units involved.

@Mooney_Driver, two units are replaced! How many other units in the G1000 need the software to be upgraded?

EGTR

@Peter

The installation is more complicated… this box isn’t just a “GNS530W” – it is more or less the whole G1000. If you pull one out of say a C182, the G1000 will power up saying “I am a C182”, etc. You would need the WAAS-DA42 software to load into it.

I don’t think so. The « computer » is in the two screens (GDU). They are running the software (operating system) specific to the airframe.
The GIA63W is just a device connected to the computer (like a printer). So it doesn’t mind being connected to a Mac or a Pc.

8-10 hours is spot on. And this makes the G1000 a very simple system to upgrade in that aspect.

PS: one day, there will be plenty GIA63W in the second hand market (I hope).

@avionicspecialist17
Where do the 8 GIA63W come from ?
