As jmuelmen pointed out, that’s different from what I wrote, but I think you (and he) are right and then I was wrong in stating that you could start the descent immediately.
Simplification: Before intercepting/joining an approach procedure (e.g. at a fix) you maintain the presently cleared altitude.
“A-BCD Descend 3000’, fly direct POINT, from POINT cleared ILS APP 35” – Chart says POINT 3000’ and FAF 2000’, descend starts earliest at POINT.
Why is the drawing on the first chart not showing a decent from 5000 to 4500 from IF to FAF(VIBEV) ?
It is shown as a straight line.
