Aero Friedrichshafen 2015 15-18 April

I assume you are referring to hard on the exhibitions side (if there is any).
Would have thought ‘hard’ on the Terminal side would be up to German standards !

I feel better about driving the more Im reading.

I’d be too if there was a proper road going to Friedrichshafen. But that picturesque Bodensee shore road is just that: picturesque. And you’ll have enough time marvel at its beauty standing in the jam.

The 1hr departure queue might be on a Saturday…

Can’t comment on Saturday, last year that was on Thursday. Maybe you can shorten it a bit by doing what everyone was doing, namely inventing reasons why they should go first…

AFAIK there’s no hard parking on the exhibitions side, except for the second hand plane market, and I guess you wouldn’t want to end up there

OK, all interesting stuff. I’ll take care on the Terminal side hard as well, but difficult to believe it can be that bad on Terminal side.
N2136E has a £2100 zero time re-furbished prop !!!

Route advice please. VFR EGCF (Sandtoft, North England) to EDNY (Friedrichshafen)
Normally aspirated Arrow – with full tanks can do non stop.
Current thinking:-
EGCF – CLN – KOK – CIV – KENAP – (MMD) – LOU – STR – N VRP – EDNY
Most of those are VOR’s. LOU is a NDB.
Have all the SatNav stuff (Garmin and SkyDemon)
Done Belgium, France, Germany before.
Trying to keep the line straight and the above has Class C & D – would normally expect to get clearance.
Going via VOR’s as the Flight Plan System understands them and it’s a good nav backup.
But there’s a lot ‘in the way’ !!
You can e-mail me a SkyDemon Route to:-

In 90% of the cases you will get the EDDS/Stuttgart C/D transition. Just make sure you fly flight levels properly and you make a competent impression on the radio

Belgium and Germany have good FIS, always stay in contact and it will be a very easy flight.

Since you have GPS, Skydemon etc. Why don’t you start off with a direct and then “rubber-band” the route to just stay away from prohibited areas, any class A and then include a few GPS waypoints to comply with each of the countries’ rules on VFR flightplan routings? Obvioulsy, for places where a clearance is seriously in doubt, you should previously have a look at alternatives, but other than that, just sort out the rest in the air.

And, it’s not that the “Flight Plan System” has to “understand” anything if we are talking VFR. There is no computer checking of VFR flightplan routings.
