Just trying to figure out procedures here in Europe and what would constitute, unable to get a straight in, when as I was told by another poster, I was already positioned in the IFR corridor to make a straight in. Clearly if the tower had a saturated IFR arrival situation it would be difficult to work another aircraft in. But by the time I finished the VFR arrival and flew downwind, it was all done in *V*isual *M*eteorologic *C*onditions and after extending my down wind to accommodate and IFR ILS inbound I was worked in probably cause a gap opened up in the inbound traffic.
