Morane-Saulnier Rallye Series (Morane-Pilot Thread)

The tailwheel version solves a weakness, the 8.00-6 tires on them would make softer/rougher runways more workable.

There is a mod for a 500-5 tire pending on the Rallye.io group list, and this would be a welcome improvement on the stock nose gear tire. If you fly from wet/rough/soft places the standard tire is always a worry.

You see some funny things at US airports sometimes (note registration)

A guy I know is an inveterate trader and likes to ship stuff back and forth across the Atlantic, buying cheap one one side and selling for more on the other. Mostly it seems to be complete planes coming west and parts going east.

@Silvaire, according to the history books Morane Saulnier were one of, if not the first to make a VLJ. I understand it started off as a military project which did not get taken up by l’armée de l’air, but several were built for civilian use. I think they were 4 seaters, dubbed either the MS600 or MS700, and were built in the early 1950’s. AIUI most if not all were snapped up by private buyers in the USA. Have you ever come across one?

France

I think it was the MS 760 C III Paris, which was the 4 seat development of Morane’s failed competitor to the Fouga Magister

There is an air worthy Paris for sale on plane check. Lovely plane. But too noisy for Europe

@gallois, I have seen Paris jets advertised for sale in the US and I’ve seen one or two on the ground (a long time ago) but I don’t recall seeing one in operation.

Thanks for that report that i found …now.Sorry that there is not much about the Rallye MS 892 …

I am owner of a MS 892 and i love my airplane. All what you wrote is similar with mine Rallye.I have one problem not mentionned and it seems the same problem on most Rallyes.
When i fill completely my petrol tank, there is always petrol coming out my tank, what may be ennoying for the take off.Do you have the same problem.
I agree completely ,the Rallye is a classic and one of the most secure airplane never built.

Just happened to see this old comment about gas coming out… I have never had that in my 880B but this question may explain why each venting tube includes a one way valve. That valve lets air to ram inward and tries to prevent leakage outward for example if the air gets warm – so the expanding air is probably forced to go out through the fuel cap holes.. or perhaps I am wrong, anyone knows better??
Ralley, do you have these one way valves in tubes perhaps missing?
Our tanks might as well be different – mine has 85 litre tanks which is not common for 880B and if yours has 48 litres they may act differently.

Question to the Morane owners/pilots here- does anybody know where to get parts for the Franklin engine – specifically the fuel pump . The Morane our club owns has an automotive pump which is supposed to be replaced by the geared pump 10+ years ago..

There are a few small/tiny US companies that support Franklin operators at some level. There is also the Polish organization that bought the Franklin engine rights in the 1970s (along with separate rights to produce the Koliber) and still operates at some level. I’d send a few emails and see if they can provide parts or info.

Franklin in Poland

Franklin Parts

Franklin Aerospace

Franklin Engines

Caveat emptor, from previous research (I was once interested in buying a Franklin powered Bellanca) I understand these companies have varying reputations from good to not so good. A couple of them are/were in reality just one person. Second or third hand information says ‘Franklin Parts’ in Jewett Texas may be reliable if the people in Poland can’t help.
