Too easy – if I am working it is great weather. If I am free it is blowing a hooley with horizontal rain, sleet, snow – or all three at the same time :(

It’s an interesting topic indeed. If anyone is interested I can do a very short brief on what surprised me in terms of weather when I started flying in Norway compared to France. Note that I’m only VFR, and I not a specialist of meteorology at all.

Would Simon Keeling perhaps be a good speaker?

EHLE / Lelystad, Netherlands, Netherlands

I went to one of his talks some years ago.

He wasn’t a pilot. It was ok at a very basic level. I think he sells courses mainly these days – has a big social media profile.

My take on this is that VFR weather is fairly straightforward. You use the basic tools – tafs, metars, windy.com nowadays – and you will never manage to out-forecast the pro forecasters who do this all day long. IFR weather is more difficult because you are dealing with high altitude weather, and stuff like icing conditions which are generally poorly forecast so there is a lot more “strategy” involved. Aircraft performance is much more relevant because the best strategy is to climb above the wx.

Both VFR and IFR wx are great candidates for a “talk”.

Money driver would be well experienced to give such a talk if he was interested in doing so.

But maybe it could also be done with 20 pilots each give a 2 minute presentation on a little tip they’ve picked up over the years. Doesn’t have to be some major contribution, just something small that others might have missed or forgotten over the years.

Hi have a suggestion, even if I don’t have content.
As we all begin to emerge from lockdown to flying, maybe a bunch of us could deliver some
‘Bar-room-tips’ to each other.
Some tips will be familiar to others but some may not, and be simple useful tips.
Perhaps a 1 or 2 minute delivery of a tip that maybe anyone could learn from. Perhaps especially some of the students, or low hours guys. Not perhaps the kind of things that take a long while to explain, so to keep it fresh.
I can think of one maybe two.

I thought this article had a good logical flow for weather brief

I think another good topic is where to find EASA regs

If anyone is interested, for something to contribute I’m proposing to do a Zoom trip report of a Trip including Carcassonne as someone expressed an interest.

It won’t be too fancy, and will be about 20 to 25 min to keep it from being too boring.
I have a couple of pictures to include.

Intended time 19:00 utc

Cancel my last. Just had a computer issue.
Not sure I’ll recover in time.
