a short (about 10 minutes) slide show

Absolutely amazing! Thank you soo much! Can we nominate you as official video compiler of next EuroGA meetups?

Thanks Guys. You’re too kind. With only a short time to go before Apéro – the medical guidance for treating flu is to keep up your fluid intake! – I decided to incorporate a few of the excellent additional slides that I noticed as I was posting the video. They only add about another minute to the show, so no death by slideshow! I’ll need to finesse it a bit more – my wife is asking which type of cold beer I want – but will aim to post it sometime tomorrow.

Thanks so much for this brilliant video Steve! Hope you recover soon and that I was not the one who infected you.. I came with a cold but past the incubation period, I think.

Folks, don’t we all believe that Steve deserves a prize? Like in becoming the facilitator of the next fly-in in his lovely field in the Southwest of France?

Maybe that next fly-in could be done at a small field near Steve’s home base LFBA, to make it even more relaxed. I see one nearby called Condom.. This way Steve can actually fly in as well.

Looks like a great, very successful fly-in.
A great destination with great flying and some great socialising. Shame we couldn’t join in, but glad to enjoy the slideshow compiled by Steve.

Nice and delicate touch that you found the coat of arms for the Valley, @Steve !

Aaart: I keep looking at Condom on the chart and thinking about landing there, just to get the name in my lobbook ;-). But, to be honest, there’s nothing there – just a grass strip used primarily by gliders. It’s also much too close to LFBA to be worth the effort for me. Personally, I still like the idea of LEAP/LECN, but I’m sure that there are many other worthy candidates out there. Must go now. Having seen a few additional photographs from the meet-up that have been posted on the forum since I started the slideshow, I want to add them in. At which point, the slideshow will be well past the 80/20 point and I’ll be done. Until the next time ;-) ! I’ll post another link for the update, whoich will only be a small tweak, and I think that Peter will also upload it onto his Vimeo account, which is probably better longterm for this forum. À tout à l’heure.

OK guys, the tweaks are complete and here is the final version of our La Cerdanya slideshow/video.

As you can see, it currently sits in my DropBox Public Folder, but I believe that Peter has plans to download a copy to the Vimeo account that is accessible through the EuroGA website, which sounds a much neater way of preserving the memory of a great meet-up.

Thinking about the weekend as I undertook this edit, it occurred to me that, amongst other things, the weekend was successful because:
1. Good choice of airfield – 1,150m runway to suit a range of aircraft types; not busy; and in an amazingly picturesque location within the foothills of the Pyrenees.
2. CAVOK weather. Always helps!
3. Plenty of things to do, both in the air and on the ground.
4. No set timetable, allowing people to choose what suited them best.
5. A range of hotels nearby.
6. Timing meant that we were not competing for rooms with holiday makers / skiers.
7. Aart’s gentle but steady hand on the tiller, along with an amazing ability to conjure up taxis.

All pretty obvious stuff I admit, but maybe worth bearing in mind when we look for a 2024 meet-up?

Anyway, enjoy the video. It was a pleasure doing business with you all!

À la prochaine,

Steve
