Type rating training

Congrats, Jason! Well done!

Just flew Orlando – Boston at FL370 3h15. Pretty well a max range trip but fun. Was ISA+10 so couldn’t really get higher and didn’t need to.

Well done Jason, great stuff!

Someone’s asked me to get a Caravan rating on my FAA licence. Would you recommend your school?

Surely you don’t need a Type Rating for a C208 on an FAA licence? Isn’t it just a complex aircraft?
Or is it different for commercial use…?

Edited to add: Well done Jason!!

There seem to be plenty of schools offering a Type Rating for the Caravan, so I guess it is required. Still doing the research, though.

A type rating is not required for a King Air for private ops. If you operate Part 121 it’s beyond my pay grade.

Chris, if you are going to operate an N-reg caravan in Europe you will need to hold a type rating on it. 5 hours instruction and some ground school I believe. Steve Coupland is the man to speak to.

Thanks Callum. This will be in the States, doing air-to-air photography, so I expect a rating is required.

Should not be on the FAA ticket.

Manhattan and Long Island from FL350.
