Corona / Covid-19 virus - airport and flying restrictions, and licensing / medical issues

Xenophon, in Cyropaedia (VI.2.17) “scythes of steel have been fitted to the axles, and that it is the intention to drive these into the ranks of the enemy

In the GA tradition, that would be: into the ranks of the BGA, BMAA, AOPA, PPL/IR, perhaps

Got this today from Aosta LIMW in Italy. Interesting list of restrictions

However the UK is likely to soon add Italy to the quarantine list. So I will go at the earliest opportunity.

Gosh. Can anyone answer that truthfully? (Being aware of the details in several recent Italian laws.)

Also, “underwriter” is a bit funny.

ESKC (Uppsala/Sundbro), Sweden

It’s an ad literam translation of “sottoscritto”. Undersigned would have been better.

Capitaine’s hypothesis wins by a furlong, but I suspect that the real explanation is more prosaic:

A professional technician used a gash drill bit instead of the correct stepped dowel to lift or jack the gear leg for maintenance. Then he put away the jack and went for a cup of tea, by which time he’d completely forgotten the drill bit. Nobody noticed it during the rest of the annual inspection, and in flight it vibrated into the axle rather than dropping out onto some unfortunate baby’s pram. And there it stayed until yours truly took the PA28-style wheel pant bracket and plug off the other end of the axle (why on earth would anyone fit wheel fairings on a D140???) and peered inside out of serendipitous curiosity.

Italy now requires UK arrivals to either have a recent test certificate or take a test on arrival, and in the latter case they will lock you up until you test negative again.

However, an email to Aosta airport yields the same PDF as posted earlier above. Either they don’t know about the change, or the Daily Trash for it wrong.

EDIT: appears to be confirmed e.g. here for UK, NL, BE.

I suppose with the exploding figures we have to make ready for a renewed total travel ban. Which would be one of the necessary measures to finally get control of this.
