Yes, but how many people live on the Scilly isles and Guernsey?
Might that not have a wee bit to do with it too?

The argument I heard made on Alderney (pop. 1800 – “1800 drunks clinging to a rock” is what Guernsey residents refer to it as, most unkindly, but they don’t like funding its deficit) during my last visit, 17th March, was that there are so many old people there that the virus would kill lots of them if it got there. So Alderney (and Guernsey) never re-opened after the ~ 20th March total closure. They have a completely free life there, with no precautions AFAIK.

The Scilly Isles re-opened early July. It has a similar population size to Alderney; not sure about the age profile. Frankly I would not fly there now because nowadays they don’t allow GA to park on tarmac even if they could, and the grass is marginal (for the TB20) even in dry weather. I saw a PC12 on grass so the policy seems to have no exceptions, but a PC12 has more power than I have to pull itself out of a hole

However the Scilly Isles “are in England” so it is interesting what legal powers they have to shut down like this. I mean… Brighton council would not be able to put roadblocks on all roads going into Brighton, to create a “CV19-free zone” (actually Brighton is full of anti-vaxxers who truly believe it is a big conspiracy with 5G used to read the personal data stored in the vaccine nanoparticles, but you get my drift ) But clearly the Scillies can, and do just close the place up.

FYI, french islands (Belle-ile, Ile d’Yeu etc…) did the same in March.

IOM, Taiwan ROC, NZ, Guernsey seem to have used their island status to their advantage in managing the pandemic.

Looking a UK corridor list for quarantine exemption, yes load of islands have that covid19 safe status (works on the biggest ones being Australia, Antaractica and New Zeland), but how many are open for UK visitors with no quarantine on arrival? a friend of mine went to Barbados end of Oct, he is now on his 2nd month there

I wonder why such exemption is not implemented for Oussant, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Ile’Yeu

Yeah….Except it really isnt…

It just shows the absurdity of the current situation in many European countries right now and how completely daft the new rules/laws are.

Yes; this is actually not really new, because if you take an unapproved drug you will lose your medical. Well, if you tell them

The funny Q is what happens if an FAA medical holder in the UK takes the Pfizer vaccine which is not approved in the US by the FDA (and may never be, since the US is probably not buying any of it)
