Zell am See LOWZ

I created the Homebriefing signin (my old one had been deleted – not been used for years) but I can’t find the wx briefing for any GAFOR routes.

Anyway, I will fly to overhead LOWZ and if it not clear to descend I will do the “canyon” route as posted above, and if that isn’t possible (cloudbase below 5000ft QNH) I will divert to Salzburg LOWS so the trip isn’t wasted.

I would really appreciate if somebody can look up the wx (cloudbases) tomorrow morning for that route and post it here. I found loads of websites with webcams but one has to really know which bits they relate to.

The TAF for LOWS is 6000ft AAL which sounds good.

I will be leaving the house 0645Z tomorrow…

Achim (and others) has my Telegram and Whatsapp IM details.

This thread got mixed up with the original LOWZ one (cancelled due to wx) so I moved a few posts of today from that one over to here.

Wasn’t expensive, either.

Salzburg Few 5000, TAF is Few 6000 :-)

Here you can see half of the GA fleet of Austria queue up because Peter’s blocking the fuel station

Straight in on 08, after a descent from FL100 on a 090 OBS, intercepted 20nm out. No canyon flying

Approach to 08 is from here

Boooooring..

Especially since there are no canyons, Zell isn’t even in the Alps, they start south of the airfield at Kaprun… Zell is a great destination though.

Telling an Austrian that flying from Germany to Zell is mountain flying is like telling a Brit that this is quality tea

Great photos – the weather makes me wish I was having breakfast in Zell am See.

(after you count a million and one traffic circles you’re getting close to the alps, as I remember)

That’s a very exclusive opinion that Zell isn’t in the Alps :-)
