Jeppesen Mobile Flite Deck VFR / MFDVFR / Foreflight Mobile

If so then surely there must be a lower “add-on” price for jeppview users?

yes there is

Am I the only one that thinks the en-route charts look fine?

Just got this from Jepp

Mobile FliteDeck VFR v1.4 is coming in April and offers a new Italy coverage plus enroute data for Ireland, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain and Portugal.

The pricing of this is ludicrous. SkyDemon is far better for far less.

EGNH

SkyDemon plus German VFR approach charts is not much cheaper than MFDVFR

Jepp has an AMDB covered in there product (Airport Mapping Database + visual circuits to fly coming from VFR manuals, previously in the VFR Bottlang) ) I see that as the main advantage in comparison with SD however I think the HMI and some features on SD seem better…

EBST

After a lot of messing around and some comms with Jepp, I have discovered why I cannot load the Italy update.

The Italy update needs v1.4 of the app but that in turn needs IOS 7. If you have v1.3 you don’t see any more updates offered. It doesn’t say why not; in fact it doesn’t say anything at all. It just says the data is up to date…

I am on IOS6.x and have not yet applied IOS 7.1.1 (which is being offered) partly because I have an old version of Memory Map (which runs all my old QCTs) which might stop working, but the updated version of MM has been crippled.

Who uses this and what’s your opinion?

Personally, I think it’s a good product overall, but that it’s still missing a number of key features. My + and -, for what they’re worth:

GOOD:

- solid navigation database
- relatively complete and uniform pre-flight briefing capabilities (WX, NOTAMs, terminal charts & AIP info)
- clean look
- good coverage (in the meantime)

BAD LESS GOOD:

- no vertical profile view
- a bit sluggish
- unable to sync “flight plans” between iPads
- doesn’t run on an iPhone
- incomplete A/C configuration capabilities
- price compared to the competition (but I guess the cost of having trustworthy data)

I’d like to know what others think…

I use it along with other products. You can argue over price but since it includes plates for Germany which are extra with other products then that should be taken into account.

Sluggish – no problems
iPhone support – not ineterested due to screen size
Sync – I understand a cloud is on the to-do list
Jepp VFR Guide integration – excellent
WX presentation – good
Coverage – getting better and I anticipate an upgrade to coincide with AERO Friedrichshafn
Love the charting

but still a work in progress.

I miss the integration of a “tool” for proper flight planning.
Otherwise for pure VFR flights, it’s a good program.

Can you elaborate a bit on what you feel is missing?
